The journal includes invited state-of-the-art articles and podcasts and provides critical appraisal articles of previously published research. Contributions are also welcome from associated specialities such as cardiovascular surgery, radiology, angiology, diabetology, rehabilitation and other fundamental sciences, provided these relate to the management of vascular patients.

The journal publishes case reports, technical reports, position papers, original research, abstracts from Annual Meetings, visual and/or extended abstracts from seminal publications in the field, literature reviews, but also podcasts and videos. Authors are encouraged to submit cases and supplementary materials in video format. In addition, it engages in social media interactions with the community on behalf of ESVS and EJVES, including interactive pdfs of the published papers, guided discussion forums, promotional tweets and rapid response platforms.
